Haldon Motor Club

Haldon Motor Club – Founded in 1958 by a group of Rally enthusiasts the club was throughout its life, always basically a rallying club, remaining heavily involved in this form of motorsport to the end.

Haldon’s involvement with hillclimbing, and becoming part of FIVE CLUBS, came about by a perceived need to diversify into the field of speed events, due to the restrictions being put upon rallies taking place on the public highway.

Unfortunately there was insufficient interest within the club for speed events, to maintain sufficient momentum. By the late 1980’s, early 1990’s therefore, with further restrictions being applied to rallying and the loss of several influential members; the club went into an irreversible decline, culminating in their demise in 1996.
